Meet Joey

Hi, I'm Joey. I'm the oldest of the pack. I'd like to think I'm still the Alpha dog around here but I'm afraid the youngsters are trying to take over. Still, I'm the old guy and I'm very wise. I have done alot in my life. My mom found me through an ad in the paper. I was supposed to be a birthday gift for April (one of mom's human kids).

When mom found me, I was filthy, a few months old but already separated from my birth mother. I was stuck in a cage and never got to go outside at all. The old couple who had me meant well, they loved dogs. But they were what mom called 'hoarders'. They just had too many of us to take care  of us properly.

I'm really lucky mom got me when she did cos a few days later, we saw on the news where the police had raided the old couple's home and taken all the dogs to the pound. Who knows what would have happened to me if I had ended up there!

I remember being so shy and scared when mom and Ryan (another of mom's human kids) came and picked me out. And on the way to my new home, I hid under the seat in the van and threw up. It was all so new and scary! Everyone thought I would be a shy, quiet dog but I sure fooled them!

I am just one of those guys that is always happy. And I have never met a human or animal that I didn't like! I adore babies whether human or animal! Although I love everyone, I'm totally devoted to mom. I'm her guardian angel. I have to watch out for her, or who knows what would happen to her?

My career  (other than taking care of mom and being in charge of the younger pups) over the years has been as a therapy dog. I have worked with elderly, sick folks and with younger disabled people. I love my job, even though sometimes the humans are a little rough with me. I know they don't mean to be.

Now, we (us 4 doggies) and mom are starting this new blog together. I'm glad we are embarking on this joint venture together. We already share a home and an office. This is just one more thing we can do together.

I will be posting on Mondays. And as the resident elder here, with years of wisdom under my leash, I will have a column where you can ask me any dog question. I will answer it and if i don't know the answer, I'll do my best to find it for you. Mom can help since she has owned dogs and worked with dogs all her life.

Email me with your dog questions at Joey@bloggydoggies.com and check back every Monday for the answers.
