Why should I get my Dog Neutered?

Dear Joey,

I am 14 years old. My parents got us a new puppy, a German Shepherd named Cyborg. My mom insists that we get him neutered. I don't see why we should. We don't have any girl dogs in the house. Why put him through the pain? I think my mom as a lady, can't understand that. Help me convince her not to do this to our puppy,

Sorry Dude, I have to agree with your mother here. I know the thought of cutting off our, um…particular body parts is not very appealing. I can relate. I'm a guy too. But I was neutered as a pup and I'm no worse for the wear.

Let me explain some of the reasons why you should get Cyborg (cool name) neutered, and please do it by 6 months of age.

No chance of prostrate cancer.
Minimized behaviors such as territorial marking (peeing on everything) and excessive humping.
Decreased aggression issues.
You won't have to worry about your dog breaking out of your yard or acting crazy if he smells a female in heat in your area.
males will often secrete a foul smell when a female is in heat.
no unwanted puppies in our shelters.
males will also howl constantly when a female is in heat.
Your dog will be calmer, happier, healthier and live longer.
